Digital Boost is a non-profit organisation helping small businesses & charities get the digital skills they need.
In only 2 months the team and myself built Digital Boost when it was most needed. COVID-19 hit the UK economy severely and SMEs were struggling to keep up their business as usual. Our team built a platform that allows SMEs get matched up with digital natives to receive free of cost advice (building a website, improve SEO, switching to e-commerce etc.)
This unique challenge required a different kind of skillset compared to the one I usually rely on. In an even faster pace I owned the product design process and worked closely with the strategic designers and product managers to build a two sided platform for digital native volunteers and SMEs which needed help throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Branding is certainly not my expertise. However, I got the chance to collaborate with McCann London to come up with a unique brand and visual identity. After a short but sweet round of testing we finalised the visual design direction and applied it across the product. While launching the product I ensured the consistency of the brand throughout all digital assets.
After the commercial launch I stepped back and let the new hires take over. However, I stayed involved as a mentor to provide feedback, give directions and ensure a smooth product design work-stream. This part of the journey definitely helped me to grow the most.
The team looked at different opportunity areas in which we could make the biggest impact possible. In the end we found very strong indicators why we should help small and medium enterprises during these challenging times.
